First expedition and discovery of new summits

Prerequisites

  • Technical: alpine experience depending on the objective,

  • Physical: regular physical training (endurance),

  • Mental: motivation, integrate well in a group, acceptance of the discomfot linked to altitude.

     

Argentina : Aconcagua, Polish route and crossing (6960 m)
December 2006

Culminant point of North and South America at almost 7000 metres, l'Aconcagua is situated on Argentinean territory, not far from the Chilean capital of Santiago.

Its ascent by the Polanaise route is a true expedition on glacial terrain.
After having set up Base Camp at around 4200 metres, we use two altitude camps (5000 m et 5850 m) before setting out for the summit.
We return down on the northern slope (normal route) then follow a different valley to the one of the walk out.

Peru: Crossing of Alpamayo (5947 m), Chopicalqui (6345 m)
June 2007

Alpamayo may attract the crowds but we'll be all alone on the north ridge ! Following this lofty crossing, we can bivouac for the ascent of a first 6000, the Quitaraju. A good rest in the valley and then we'll make our way at last towards Chopicalqui, a peaceful jewel in the heart of the White Cordillera.

Extreme altitude

Prerequisites

  • Technical: autonomous on alpine routes graded D and on expeditions. Several expeditions, including at least one of which on a summit over 7500 metres,

  •  Physical: excellent fitness, regular fitness training,

  • Mental: highly motivated, get on well in a group, accept a certain element of risks. 
       
    On these objectives, the guide will open the route and advise you on the best strategy to adopt. You may find yourself in the situation where you are expected to progress without his presence at very high altitude.

    Through these itineraries we offer to take you into regions that we don't know very well or that we don't know at all but which seem to us to offer a strong potential for discovery.  We cannot give any guarantees; curiosity and a sense of improvisation will be essential…

Canada  : Yukon icefields, Saint Elias mountains
June 2008

From the biggest non polar glacial mass on earth emerges superb mountains which culminate in Mount Logan (5959 m). The isolation will be absolute: dropped on the ice by aeroplane, moving across the glacier on skis with pulkas and ascents (ski and alpinism). This aventure will have a arctic atmosphere to it: 23 hour daylight, wind, cold...
